A self-tapping screw is designed to create its own hole in wood, plastic or metal materials as it is being driven (it does not necessarily require a pilot hole). Tapping screws are beneficial in applications that involve consistent maintenance and are especially helpful when two different materials are being attached together. This tapping screw has a pan head and a flat bearing surface. The combination drive accepts both Phillips and slotted drivers.
